Essentials of Leadership Class
Dr. Steven Phillips
Current research has made it clear that there is no one “best” leadership style. Instead, the effective leader must possess a variety of different styles which he or she can change as the situation changes. The concept of Strategic Leadership as developed by HRD Press helps participants identify their own leadership styles, understand the four preferred styles available to them and match leadership styles to the needs of their followers.
Because employees have varied needs based on the work they are doing and the skills and attitudes they bring to that work, the leader needs to respond to these varying needs with a range of appropriate strategies. Choosing from a number of different approaches, Strategic Leadership helps the leader to combine those approaches with his or her judgment, experience and creativity to identify the best way to approach the employee in any given situation.
